If you haven't heard of ERGO yet, I've got money saying you soon will. Founded in 2005, ERGO provides quality clothing to consumers with a lifestyle marked by originality and distinction. ERGO is also quite charitable. How many companies do you know that have donated $300K worth of clothing to Haiti?

Based in New Jersey, E-R-G-O is here to S-T-A-Y. I recently caught up with ERGO VP of Sales, Damon George, who was happy to fill me in on the latest.

BNQT - KRIS MARKOVICH IS A PREMIERE ERGO ATHLETE. HE ALSO HAPPENS TO HAVE SOME SERIOUS ARTISTIC TALENT. CAN YOU TELL US ABOUT THE ERGO X MARKOVICH COLLABORATION?

Damon - Collaborations seem to work really well these days. Not only is Kris a skateboard legend, he is an amazing artist. When bringing him on board with ERGO, the plan was to get him involved with not only the skate program, but also the design side of things. Right now we have the Markovich signature denim, custom tees and a few accessories. To top it off, the retailers that carry the collection receive large Markovich canvas prints for the store. It's worked out really well so far and the product is checking. We are excited to keep it moving forward.

ERGO recently shipped 0K worth of clothing to the
relief efforts in Haiti. Good on ya' guys!

BNQT - I HEARD ERGO RECENTLY GOT INVOLVED TO HELP HAITI. WHAT DID YOU DO AND HOW DID THIS COME ABOUT?

Damon - We recently partnered with local New Jersey, non-profit organization, NJ for Haiti, to donate more than $300,000 worth of apparel to the relief efforts of Haiti earthquake victims. Living in the U.S., we've been fortunate enough to follow our dreams and pursue entrepreneurship by launching our own company - we are so grateful for the opportunities that we have and are always looking for ways we can give back. We're lucky to have found such an amazing local organization such as NJ for Haiti to team up with - our hearts sincerely go out to everyone who has been affected.

BNQT - WHAT INSPIRES ERGO LINES? ALSO, WHAT KIND OF STYLES/ITEMS CAN WE EXPECT FOR THE SPRING AND SUMMER?

Damon - We are still keeping it pretty tight. We are concentrating on denim, boardshorts, printables, custom fleece and a few accessories. We are a small company that is building off of our natural progression and relying on the things that have got us this far which is listening to our employees, friends and retailers. We also believe in fair trade...For instance we have a 4-way technical boardshort called The Glasser, which retails for $55. In terms of denim, our program is really mature for a young brand. We've developed great fits, exciting washes, embellishments and some attention to detail.

ERGO recently welcomed David Loy to the skate team

BNQT - WHO ARE SOME OF THE MARQUEE ERGO ATHLETES?

Damon - Our skate program is really gaining some momentum. We just signed Chad Bartie who joins Kris Markovich, Robert Lopez Mont and Gary Smith on the pro team as well as David Loy, Shawn Hale, Andrew Cannon, Norman Woods and Tom Geilfuss on the Am team. For surf, we have Shea Lopez, Matt Keenan, Brendan Buckley, Hector Santamaria, Josie Graves and Tommy Ihnken.

BNQT - ANY LAST WORDS?

Damon - Thanks to everyone that has backed our brand and embraced our story. Be sure to check out ERGOphobia.com where you can find links to our Twitter, Facebook and Myspace pages.
