Big news coming out of Beaverton, OR, today as Nike 6.0 inked a footwear and apparel deal with 15 year-old surf wunderkind Kolohe Andino.
According to Jason Kenworthy, Nike 6.0 Surf Team Mentor, "Kolohe has been on the scene for awhile, but this year his style exploded and he is progressing the sport in fast-forward mode. Brother's natural talent is beyond radical and the next few years are going to be mind-blowing for him and the rest of the 6.0 crew."
In one week, this surf phenom has signed his Ben Franklin on two humongous deals: one with Target (yesterday) and one with Nike 6.0. I was going to entitle this article "How to Stack Cheddar with Kolohe Andino", but I'll assume you can read between the lines. Nevermind the fact that he can't legally drive by himself yet, Kolohe is a 9-time NSSA national champion and a 4-time Surfing America USA Championship winner. Not to mention, he's the son of former pro surfer Dino Andino.
"I'm super stoked to have signed with Nike 6.0.They are an awesome company with a long history of supporting the world s best athletes. I feel that Nike 6.0 is only scratching the surface with their involvement in the sport of surfing. With their commitment moving forward and my determination, I feel the sky is the limit for both of us," said Andino.
Kolohe Andino joins Nike 6.0 surf athletes Michel Bourez, Dusty Payne, Kai Barger, Carrisa Moore, Laura Enever, and many others. With Dusty qualifying for the 2010 WCT, Nike 6.0 now has two men on the tour (Michel & Dusty) and after this deal, the future is looking brighter than ever for the 6.0 clique.
